Kotdwara:Gearing up for polls, Uttarakhand Chief Minister and Bhartiya Janata Party candidate from this assembly seat B C Khanduri today said he would personally deal with the proposal of bringing up a medical college in the district.

Khanduri said he would personally look into the matter and find a suitable land here for the Gharwal University''s Medical college, adding that if the central medical college is not granted at Kotdwara, his government will establish a state funded Medical college here.

Congress slammed the BJP government in the state for not completing necessary paper work in time for the proposed establishment of a regional center of National Institute of Rural Development and national medical college.

Congress candidate and former cabinet minister Surendra Singh Negi attacked Khanduri on the alleged delay in brining up NIRD. He promised to start the work for establishing NIRD in the region with assistance from the central Government.

Camping here for the past two days, Khanduri addressed several meetings and corner gatherings. Accompanied by local sitting MLA Shailendra singh, he said that the passing of Lokpal Bill by his government is evident of his government''s commitment to fight corruption and tighten the bureaucracy.
