Two killed in pile-up caused by fog

Jalandhar:Two persons, including an engineering student, were killed in a pile-up caused due to fog at Pathankot bypass here.

The accident occurred yesterday morning when a college bus and a truck collided which in turn led to five other vehicles crashing into each other, police said today.

Investigating officer Manjit Singh said Mohinder Singh, 45, was killed on the spot while an injured student, Ujjwal Joshi, succumbed to injuries last night.

Joshi was crushed between two vehicles and Singh was hit by a truck while trying to rescue Joshi. Singh belonged to Kanpur village in the district.

Police have registered cases of rash driving against three persons and of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against two others. Further investigations are on.
