Cement cos slash prices by Rs 25/bag

Shimla:Cement companies in Himachal Pradesh have agreed to cut cement prices in the state by Rs 25 per bag, a senior official has said.

“Various cement companies located in the state have conveyed the revised and latest cement prices per bag at different locations in the state after cutting the price by Rs 25 per bag as agreed,” Industries Commissioner J S Rana said yesterday after a meeting with Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal.

The revised rates would be effective from February 18, Rana added.

The cement companies were selling cement in the state at higher rates compared to neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana and the government took up the matter with cement companies and forced them to cut the price, he said.
