Ten arrested in fake kidnapping racket in Doda

Jammu:Police claimed to have unearthed a fake kidnapping racket with the arrest of 10 persons in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Acting on reports that security personnel were kidnapping persons at gun-point, police interrogated a man who claimed he was abducted, SP (Doda) Mohammad Arif Rishu said.

During interrogation, he revealed the abductions were staged to get Village Defence Committees and security deployment in a few areas which did not have them, the SP said.

At least 10 persons were arrested yesterday, he said, adding, investigations in the matter were on.
