Former Bihar minister Mahavir Prasad dead

Patna:Senior RJD leader and former Bihar minister Mahavir Prasad today died after protracted illness at Indira Gandhi Institute for Medical Science(IGIMS) here, party sources said.

He was 79.Prasad was MLA from a constituency in Darbhanga district four times in a row.He was minister for health in the erstwhile Lalu-Rabri ministry.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed profound shock and grief at the demise of the RJD leader.Kumar said he would be cremated with full state honours.

Kumar described him as a renowned leader and social activist.RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, former chief minister Rabri Devi, senior RJD leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui, Ram Chandera Purve, Ram Kripal Yadav, besides Bihar youth congress president Lalan Kumar also condoled his death.

Lalan Kumar said his death has caused irrepreble loss not only in the field of politics but also to the society.
